Physician Services
|
Each resident is responsible for choosing his or her personal physician.
Residents may contact their physician by telling the charge nurse they wish to see their physician or by calling their physician themselves. The charge nurse will notify the resident when their physician is to visit or will arrange an appointment at the physician's office.
The physician is responsible for reviewing the resident's chart, consulting with the nursing and support staff and recommending treatment as indicated. The physician is required to see the resident on a required schedule or more frequently if necessary. Our nursing staff follow the physician’s orders when providing treatment or dispensing medications. Our nurses provide the physician with up-to-date information about the resident's progress so the best possible care is received.
In an emergency, if the resident’s physician or designee is unavailable, the Medical Director will be called. Permission is also given to the Administrator or his appointed representative to sign emergency forms.
The resident and/or their family may discuss the resident's medical condition and treatment plan with the physician as requested by the resident or resident's family. Physician charges are not included in the facility charges, but may be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Each physician bills for services.
